The scapular is a particular sign of union with Jesus and Mary. For those who wear it, it is a sign of filial abandonment to the protection of the Immaculate Virgin. The scapular can be traced back to a garment worn by the High Priests in the Temple of Jerusalem. It denotes the yoke worn by oxen and is a symbol of our complete obediance to God's Will.
