Novena to St. Anthony of Padua

THE MIRACULOUS RESPONSORY OF ST. ANTHONY
By St. Bonaventure
1. If then you ask for miracles,
Death, error, all calamities,
The leprosy and demons fly,
And health succeeds infirmities.
Chorus:
The sea obeys, and fetters break,
And lifeless limbs thou dost restore,
Whilst treasures lost are found again,
When young and old thine aid implore.
2. All dangers vanish at thy prayer,
And direst need doth quickly flee;
Let those who know thy power proclaim,
Let Paduans say: "These are of thee."
Chorus:
The sea obeys, and fetters break,
And lifeless limbs thou dost restore,
Whilst treasures lost are found again,
When young and old thine aid implore.
3. To Father, Son, may glory be,
And Holy Spirit eternally.
Chorus:
The sea obeys, and fetters break,
And lifeless limbs thou dost restore,
Whilst treasures lost are found again,
When young and old thine aid implore.
Pray for us, St. Anthony,
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.
O God! May the votive commemoration of St. Anthony, Thy Confessor and Doctor, be a source of joy to Thy Church, that she may always be fortified with spiritual assistance and may deserve to possess eternal joy. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

I have such a devotion for St. Anthony. He's a patron saint for my family. Also, Padua is very close to Vicenza, where I spent all my summers when I was young.

In my family we also pray to him when something is lost- and he always helps us find it. I've always encouraged my children to pray for him as well. Side bar: My daughter was just telling me the other day how during one of her open book exams at University, she was looking for an important quote- she prayed to St. Anthony to help her guide her to find it (it didn't take more than 5 seconds to find the page:)

I need to set up a guest room just for St. Anthony in our house. We call upon him so often!

I had a wonderful providential experience of St. Anthony this morning - a very little thing - I came across a holy card of the saint and thought of making a novena, not realizing how close his feastday was. Then I come upon your post. Thanks.
